Gärstoff can only be roughly translated to "product of fermentation (beer?)" or "bugs fermenting (yeast?)" or probably also "label of the beer to be drunk (by whom?)"

A paradoxical example of recursive self-reference: the label Gärstoff is assigned to both the creator of an award winning beer - the Gärstoff - and at the same time denoting this beer itself.
"Foregrounds and backgrounds overlap and interpenetrate; transparency, here, means neither a clear view nor insight—it instead concerns, and questions, our individual perception of reality."
